These codecs allow third party applications to understand Meridien JFIF and Uncompressed media (1:1, 2:1, 3:1, etc) on Mac OSX, Mac OS9, and Windows 2000/XP.

The most common use of this codec is for import and export in Adobe After Effects as Quicktime Movies.

To install the Meridien OSX codecs:

1. Unstuff the Avid_Meridien_Codecs_Mac_OSX.sit download.
   
   The Unstuffed download contains two files:
    
   • AvidAVDJCodec.component
   • AvidAVUICodec.component
      
2. Place both files in the folder /Library/QuickTime/.
   
   

   Restart any applications that are utilizing QuickTime. You do not need to reboot the CPU in order to use the additional codecs.

To install the Meridien OS9 codecs: 

1. Unstuff the Avid_Meridien_Codecs_Mac_OS9.sit download.
   
   The Unstuffed download contains two files:
    
   • Avid Compressed G4
   • Avid Uncompressed G4
      
2. Place both files in System Folder/Extensions.

   You need to reboot the CPU in order to use the additional codecs.

To install the Meridien Windows 2000/XP codecs: 

1. Unzip the Avid_Meridien_Codecs_WinXP.zip download.
   
   The Unzipped download contains two files:
    
   • AvidQTAVJICodec.qtx
   • AvidQTAVUICodec.qtx
      
2. For Windows XP, place the files in C:\Windows\System32\
   
   For Windows 2000, place the files in C:\WinNT\System32\
   
   

   Restart any applications that are utilizing QuickTime. You do not need to reboot the CPU in order to use the additional codecs.

These codecs are not for use with Avid Xpress DV. However, many Avid Xpress DV customers have been interested in the whereabouts of these codecs. The standalone Avid DV codec is included in the Goodies folder on Avid Xpress DV 3.5 CD.
