Why do I receive the following error message when attempting to activate Avid DVD by Sonic v6.1:

"Unsuccessful Activation There was a problem activating your product.  This could be due to: Invalid product key"

Upon verifying that the serial key labeled on the install disk sleeve is correctly capitalized and formatted, it is possible that Roxio software installed on the same system could be creating a licensing conflict.

If you have any other Roxio or Sonic software installed on the same machine:

  • Uninstall Avid DVD by Sonic v6.1 and any Roxio applications from Add/Remove Programs. A deeper cleaning of the system drive and registry to remove any associations to Roxio or Sonic may be necessary.
  • Re-install Avid DVD by Sonic v6.1 and re-enter the serial number labeled on the install disc sleeve.
