How do I manually uninstall my Xpress Pro or Media Composer software to ensure a clean installation of my upgrade for the Mac platform?
If you are upgrading your software on the Mac OSX platform, it is necessary to remove the previous version to ensure a clean installation of your new software.
Versions higher than Xpress Pro 5.5 and Media Composer 2.5 can be uninstalled by going to Applications/Avid_Uninstallers and running each of the uninstall packages and all necessary files will be removed.
Versions older than 5.5/2.5 require the original install disc in order to remove application files from the Mac system. If you can't locate the original disc, you can manually uninstall the application by removing files from the directories below and dragging to your trash. Individual files to be trashed are marked with an "*", folders to be trashed are noted when necessary.
Note: Projects, users, and media files will not be deleted in this process. However, it is always best practice to backup your media and projects through any Avid upgrade process. Before proceeding, unplug your USB dongle.
