This
FAQ will guide you through an uninstall and reinstall of the Pinnacle
Studio 14 software. There are three sections. Section 1 should cover
most uninstall and reinstall needs. Section 2 covers some problems
the basic uninstall does not. Section 3 has instructions on how to do
an install using safe mode for cases where the software install is
being problematic.
Section 1: Basic Uninstall and Reinstall Steps
- Go to Start - Control Panel.
- In Windows XP click on Add or Remove Programs. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 click on Programs - Uninstall a program.
- Select
Studio 14 and click the Remove button (Windows XP), or the Uninstall
button (Windows Vista or Windows 7). Follow any on-screen instructions
to remove the software.
- If you have an install disc: Insert your Studio 14
disc into the DVD drive. The DVD should auto-launch. If it does
not, use Windows Explorer to browse to the DVD. Look In the Setup
folder, click on the setup.exe file to begin the installation of Studio
14.
- If you have a download version: If you have a
download version of Studio 14, start the installation of the Studio
software by locating the Downloads folder that was created in the
download, open it, and double click on the Studio_XXXXX_14.part1.exe
file to begin the install.
Note: The X's in the file name
represent the Studio version description. For example, the file
name for Studio Ultimate Collection is: Studio_Ult_Col_14.part1.exe.
Section 2: Advanced Uninstall and Reinstall Steps
If
the above steps fail, or you have the same problem in Studio after the
uninstall and reinstall procedure, try the following steps:
- Go to Start - Control Panel.
- In Windows XP click on Add or Remove Programs. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 click on Programs - Uninstall a program.
- Select
Studio 14 and click the Remove button (Windows XP), or the Uninstall
button (Windows Vista or Windows 7). Follow any on-screen instructions
to remove the software.
- Download and run Regdelete. In the Regdelete pull-down window select Studio 14 and then click the "Clean" button.
If you are having unlock/activation or serial number issues, run
Regdelete a second time and specifically select "User activation and
registration data" from the pull-down list, and then click the "Clean"
button. This will clear activation and serial number information from
the registry.Note: Only select User activation and registration data if you are having activation or serial number problems.
- Delete
the Studio 14 folder. By default the location for this is C:\Program
Files\Pinnacle\Studio 14. Note: This folder may or may not be present
depending on what contents were installed.
- Perform a Windows search for Pixie. If it finds a Pixie folder, make a copy of it, and then delete it.
- If you have an install disc:
Insert your Studio 14 disc into the DVD drive. The DVD should
auto-launch. If it does not, use Windows Explorer to browse to the DVD.
Look In the Setup folder, click on the setup.exe file to begin the
installation of Studio 14.
- If you have a download version: If you have a
download version of Studio 14, start the installation of the Studio
software by locating the Downloads folder that was created in the
download, open it, and double click on the Studio_XXXXX_14.part1.exe
file to begin the install.
Note: The X's in the file name
represent the Studio version description. For example, the file
name for Studio Ultimate Collection is: Studio_Ult_Col_14.part1.exe.
Section 3: Installation trouble
Note:
This section only applies to Windows XP users only. Installing in
Safe Mode is not a feature of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Use this section if you are having problems installing.
- Put the Studio 14 disc in the DVD-ROM drive. Close the auto install window.
- Double click on my computer.
- Right click on the Drive the Studio 14 DVD is in, and choose explore.
- In the window showing the content of the disc, go to edit - select all.
- Create a folder on your desktop called Studio. Paste the contents of the DVD to this folder.
- Boot
into Safe mode. To do this, shut down the computer. When you turn it
back on, tap the F8 key continuously until a menu pops up. Choose safe
mode.
- Open the Studio folder you created on the desktop.
- Open the Setup folder.
- Double-click the setup Icon and follow the on-screen prompts to install Studio 14.
