Known limitation with double speed capable Sony decks

A double speed capture produces the correct field 1 and field 2 ordering.

A new capture, performed with a different frame rate, produces an inverted field 2 and field 1 result.

What is the problem?

When you change frame rate, you must exit the Avid DS Capture Tool and perform a power cycle of the Sony deck. The capture field order should now be correct.

If you kept the same frame rate but the field ordering is changing with different tapes, the recorded user bit information could also be causing this issue. But once the media is placed on the timeline and played back, there are no motion artifacts.

If you require accurate field ordering for all clips, we recommend that you revert to the standard speed capture instead.
