Why am I experiencing the following issues with a z400 or z800 workstation?
- slow boot times
- applications slow to respond
- excessive hard drive activity
HP has identified a firmware issue with certain model hard drives:
- Seagate 160 GB hard drive, model ST3160318AS, HP assembly part 531624-001
- Seagate 250 GB hard drive, model ST3250318AS, HP assembly part 519599-001
- Seagate 320 GB hard drive, model ST3320418AS, HP assembly part 531625-001
- Seagate 500 GB hard drive, model ST3500418AS, HP assembly part 519600-001
- Seagate 1 TB hard drive, model ST1000528AS, HP assembly part 519601-001
The issue is specific to hard drives with assembly part numbers ending in "-001." Assembly numbers ending in "-002" have newer firmware and are not affected.
HP has posted a firmware update on their website to address the issue.
